Dukinfield, UK, Oerlikon Metco Coatings Ltd. has successfully completed the Nadcap accreditation process, marking an important milestone in the company’s continued expansion into the UK aerospace sector. Together with its existing AS9100 certification, the accreditation further strengthens the company's capability to support the demanding quality, performance and compliance requirements of aerospace manufacturers.

The Nadcap accreditation covers thermal spray coating processes as well as special processes, including grinding of coatings, laboratory coating evaluations and stripping of coated materials. Aerospace customers now benefit from Nadcap-accredited thermal spray coating, grinding and polishing services from a single source, simplifying supplier management and ensuring compliance with stringent aerospace requirements.
Located in Dukinfield near Manchester, the facility provides thermal spray coating services within Oerlikon’s UK network and complements the capabilities of Oerlikon sites in Milton Keynes and Cheshire. The site is designed to support both serial production requirements and close technical collaboration during the development of new aerospace applications.
Advanced coating solutions for demanding aerospace applications
With multiple coating booths supporting technologies including High Velocity Oxygen Fuel (HVOF) and Atmospheric Plasma Spray (APS), the Manchester facility offers the capacity and flexibility required by aerospace customers. These technologies support existing OEM specifications while also enabling the evaluation of more sustainable alternatives to conventional hard chrome plating in demanding aerospace applications.
Continuous investment in the site, including enhancements to its in-house laboratory capabilities, supports faster post-coating analysis and reinforces the facility’s strategic role within Oerlikon’s global aerospace network. In addition to supporting active production programs, the facility also helps customers develop and validate new coating applications and process concepts through Oerlikon’s broader materials, equipment and engineering expertise.
