When possible, many industries find it is efficient to restore worn or damaged components if it is less expensive than replacing them with new components.
Salvage and Restoration
Solutions:
Thermal-sprayed coatings are commonly used to repair mismachined and worn components. The coating material can be either metallurgically similar to the substrate or a different material that provides desirable surface characteristics such as wear resistance. These coatings can be applied very thick and machined to required dimensions and surface finish.
For dimensional restoration, thermal sprayed coatings are typically faster and more reliable than conventional applications as they do not alter the substrate material.
