Quality & Operational Excellence Manager Mexico


The Quality & Operational Excellence Manager is responsible for the development, alignment and advancement of the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with international quality standards including ISO & ISO TS as well as Internal, customer and industry standards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate effective management skills as well as a strong emphasis on continuous improvement and Operational Excellence through the application of lean principles.



  • Implement the Corporate Quality Program to establish and monitor quality KPI's consistently in all production sites at Oerlikon Balzers Mexico.
  • Ensure high standards regarding customer services & satisfaction and product quality in Oerlikon Balzers Mexico.
  • Actively lead Quality Meetings to establish short and long term plans to improve the quality management system.
  • Take a leadership role identifying, assessing and resolving issues with production, Sales & quality personal to ensure that quality standards are maintained company-wide.
  • Lead and support development projects as an expert in QMS standards, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), change management processes, Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), Internal Audit, Management Review, etc.
  • Develop and lead improvement initiatives/projects and deployment of quality related IT applications to improve data tracking and performance monitoring. Work with production sites implementing system solutions to add efficiency, value and enhance existing applications.
  • Lead corrective action teams as assigned in completing data analysis, failure analysis, root cause identification and corrective and preventive actions.
  • Responsible for the coordination and reporting of quality metrics to the organization that indicate customer satisfaction and the effectiveness of the quality management systems.
  • Analyze data and create proposals and feasible action plans to identify future risks and correct negative trends. Use analysis to initiate improvement projects at production sites with quality team.
  • Align method to monitor and track quality audit performance.
  • Assist in ISO/TS and internal audits preparation as requested.
  • Work with regional quality personnel through functional and indirect reporting structures to achieve quality improvement objectives.
  • OOE Yearly Project plan and target definition (e.g. project selection, employee idea system).
  • OOE Training and implementation (e.g. Lean, Kaizen, Teamwork, Shop floor boards, Visual management, A3, Layout workshop…).
  • Development, implementation and monitoring of standardized processes.
  • Benchmark and Best Practice.
  • Run Workshops and drive project plans.
  • KPI management in Sales and Operations.


We expect

  • University degree or equivalent, 10+ year’s related experience in a manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of both education and experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Certification as a Quality Engineer, Quality Manager or Quality Auditor through ASQ.
  • Certification in Six Sigma Master Black belt

Professional Experience

  • Experience managing an ISO9001 based quality management system.
  • Experience working with automotive core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA).
  • Must be able to identify, interpret, and apply problem-solving tools such as root cause analysis and Value Stream Mapping.
  • Background and experience in operations analysis, using data to drive business.
  • Experience working for a global company.
  • Proven track record in Operations in a multinational company in a technical environment.
  • Technical Knowledge and Expertise in the manufacturing industry.
