Oerlikon AM is partnering with Northrop Grumman for enhancing its Additive Manufacturing capabilities at the Huntersville, North Carolina, US facility with the installation of the AMCM M4K-4 large bed, multi-laser metal printer.
Oerlikon AM is significantly enhancing its additive manufacturing capabilities at its Huntersville, North Carolina facility with the addition of a cutting-edge, large-format metal 3D printer. Responding to the growing demand for complex, large-scale components, particularly in the defense, aerospace, and semiconductor industries, Oerlikon AM is partnering with Northrop Grumman to expand its capabilities through the installation of the AMCM M4K-4 large bed, multi-laser metal printer.
The new AMCM M4K-4 3D printer is a high-productivity machine designed for demanding additive manufacturing (AM) applications and equipped with four 1,000W lasers as part of its advanced quattro optical setup. Based on the proven EOS M 400 platform, the M4K-4 allows builds of up to 450 x 450 x 1000mm in size. This expansion in Oerlikon’s vertically integrated 125,000 square foot additive manufacturing facility not only increases its capacity for large-scale parts but also seamlessly integrates into existing manufacturing workflows, offering greater flexibility in production.

Oerlikon AM will be immediately employing the M4K-4 to develop and manufacture large, complex aerospace and defense components for Northrop Grumman.
