With a world population that is expected to increase to 8.5 billion by 2030, rising mobility and a growing demand for energy and raw materials that will test the boundaries of the Earth’s natural resources, industrial companies are forced to find new ways to meet the needs of global markets.
Innovative solutions for industrial applications
It is possible to achieve this by adopting state-of-the-art materials, surface technologies and manufacturing technologies. These technologies can create products that make more out of less – increased performance, more possibilities and greater longevity, while simultaneously consuming less energy, reducing costs and using fewer resources. Oerlikon’s Mission is to provide its customers with these kinds of competitive advantages through advanced materials and surfaces.
The Oerlikon Group is structured in three Segments
Surface Solutions (materials and surface solutions), Manmade Fibers (production technologies for synthetic fibers and polycondensation systems) and Drive Systems (drive technologies and solutions), which, with their high-tech applications, are targeted at growth markets such as the automotive industry, aerospace, energy, the tooling industry and additive manufacturing (3-D printing). Every Segment provides its technologies and services under well-established brand names and pursues strategies based on the needs and requirements of the respective markets.
The long-term growth strategy of Oerlikon is to become the world-leading provider of surface solutions, advanced materials and materials processing.
Advanced materials and coatings can make a real difference when it comes to a customer’s future requirements regarding efficiency and sustainable products. Thanks to the company’s expertise in intelligently developing and processing surface solutions and advanced materials, Oerlikon is in a unique position to be able to benefit from this growing demand.
