Heat treatment for bearing components using BALITHERM IONIT

Bearings in wind turbine drivetrains face constant fluctuating loads and must remain reliable as turbine size and power density increase. Heat treatment improves surface hardness and wear resistance, helping bearings withstand high contact pressures and minimize fatigue.

BALITHERM® IONIT is applied successfully to bearing cages and yaw rings. It reduces distortion, enhances dimensional stability, and improves wear resistance compared to conventional gas nitriding.

These treatments ensure smooth rolling motion, reduce friction-induced wear, and contribute significantly to the overall reliability and longevity of modern wind turbines.
