Hannover/Neumünster, January 23, 2013 – Once again, Oerlikon Neumag exhibited at the Domo-tex in Hannover this year: between January 12 and 15, 40,000 visitors from 80 different countries were able to inform themselves about carpet yarn solutions from the Neumünster-based systems con-structor.

This year, the focus of information was on the S+ BCF system. In addition to its productivity, efficiency is the most important character trait of the new standard machine from the BCF systems market leader. As the successor to the S3 and S5 systems, the S+ combines their benefits with those of the Sytec One – creating a fast, efficient and user-friendly machine with proven components.

5th day of the Domotex trade fair traditionally takes place in Neumünster

Following the trade fair, Neumünster played host to the 7th BCF Technology Symposium for customers, suppliers and universities. The event – which has meanwhile established itself as the “fifth Domotex day” among BCF yarn manufacturers – provided plenty of information with a broad range of specialist presen-tations, with trends and technologies, markets and raw materials being the main topics of the day.

As in previous years, sustainability also remained a strong trend for the textile industry - something that Oerlikon Neumag speaker Christina Mallin graphically demonstrated with her presentation; she showed that CO2 impact and recycling have become major topics. Michael Rübenhagen transferred the topic of sustainability to the BCF industry and focused on the possibilities offered by R-PET for the BCF-process. Alasdair Carmichael – from PCI Fibres – spoke about raw materials and trends and the triumph of polyes-ter in BCF yarn manufacturing.

With his contribution on the topic of carpet backing, Jens Weinhold, Oerlikon Barmag, rounded off the solutions package of the Oerlikon Group’s textile division. Doteco’s speaker, Pierluigi Franceschi, intro-duced new gravimetric mixing technologies for the BCF process. And finally, Professor Dr. Marc Van Parys from University College Gent inspired the international trade audience with his presentation on mul-tifunctional carpets.

The – with around 80 visitors – well-attended event was rounded off with tours of the BCF R&D Center, the production and the assembly facilities as well as a visit to the virtual reality showroom. This interactive form of presentation enables the viewer to acquire a completely new perspective on the processes, ma-chines and systems: experiencing them rather than merely observing them. Virtual reality permits interest-ed trade visitors to practically “immerse” themselves into the production processes and systems.
