The Phantom family: first-class coform substrates for hygienic and core diaper use

With its Phantom and Phantom Lite platforms, Oerlikon Nonwoven offers innovative solutions for manufacturing high-end coform nonwovens for various disposable applications such as wet wipes or diaper cores .

Nonwovens produced using the Phantom technology fulfill a broad range of market requirements, as the most diverse types of nonwovens (coform) can be manufactured using the same system.

One important feature of the Phantom and Phantom Lite technology is its lower energy consumption compared to conventional spunlace applications. This process does not require hydroentanglement, which is the primary reason the otherwise necessary energy required for drying is saved. Here, the requisite stabilization is achieved using a thermal bonding process using a calander, whereby simple customization is additionally possible by means of various embossed patterns.

A Phantom system enables the manufacture of materials with widths of 100 inches (2.5 m) at production speeds of up to 700 m/min and with potential capacities of between 18,000 and 36,000 tons per annum. The Phantom Lite system permits materials of up 80 inches (2 m) to be produced at a production speed of up to 450 m/min. Depending on the configuration level, it is able to produce between 7,500 to 15,000 tons of coform nonwovens per annum – for instance for wipes.
