New awards for Oerlikon Metco’s Friction Systems prove constant high-end-supplier quality

Bremen, Germany, April 18, 2018 – On 6 March, Friction Systems, a leading international developer and manufacturer of innovative transmission synchronizers, high-performance carbon friction linings and transmission components, won in recognition of its extremely high levels of product quality and innovation the SAGW “Supplier Excellence Award” for best supplier. It is the third year in a row that Friction Systems has won this prize (together with the “A-Class Supplier Award”) from SAGW.

SAGW (Shanghai Automotive Gear Works) is one of China’s leading vehicle transmission manufacturers, and every year it presents its best suppliers with the "Supplier Excellence Award" for outstanding supply and delivery services. Judged on supply volume, product quality and delivery efficiency, only 2% of all suppliers win the award.

The latest in a series of awards over the past years Friction Systems has now won the "VA/VE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD" from GETRAG the second time since 2013. GETRAG, which has been part of Magna since 2016, is a leading global manufacturer of transmission systems for passenger and light commercial vehicles. The company stands for high-quality and innovative transmission systems and guarantees its high standards through systematic quality management.

All GETRAG locations worldwide are ISO/TS 16949 and ISO 9001 certified. Since 2013 Friction Systems was awarded by GETRAG with the "VA/VE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD" (2013 and 2017), the "Zero ppm Cer-tificate" (2013 and 2014), the "Quality Excellence Award" (2014), and the "Supplier Excellence Award" (2015 and 2016).

In December 2017, Oerlikon Metco Friction Systems Italia S.r.l. was recognized for its commitment to occu-pational health and safety by national accreditation body Accredia, the National Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work (INAIL) and Italy’s largest employers’ federation Confindustria. 160 companies were subjected to stringent in-house audits as part of the process, and the "PREMIO IMPRESE PER LA SICUREZZA 2017" was presented in person by the presidents of the organization.

Dietmar Köster, Head of Friction Systems, said: "I am absolutely delighted that Friction Systems has won these awards. They are recognition of our ultimate goal, which is to supply our partners with high-quality products, and of our commitment to occupational health and safety. My thanks go to our customers, but also to our staff, who work hard every day to meet the high expectations of our customers. Satisfying our custom-ers and ensuring the safety of our staff matters enormously to us, and these awards confirm that we are on the right track and inspire us to even greater heights!"
