Press releases (10/02/13) Sulzer Metco Expands its Surface Engineering Portfolio with Laser Cladding Systems

Sulzer Metco Expands its Surface Engineering Portfolio with Laser Cladding Systems In September, Sulzer Metco presented their new MetcoClad™ laser cladding systems at Schweissen & Schneiden, Germany. Receiving high praise from attendees, MetcoClad systems readily accommodate numerous workpiece sizes and shapes, and process multi-dimensional surfaces in a single cladding run.

MetcoClad systems build on the company’s well-known expertise for the design of integrated thermal spray systems, and decades of experience in laser cladding services for many different industries. Sulzer Metco has outstanding proficiency for cladding newly manufactured parts and for repaired operations on a broad range of substrates. This unique combination of integration and service knowhow benefits customers looking for a highly experienced supplier for laser cladding systems.

The robotic-based systems are capable of “3D” cladding, in that they can apply welded deposits in a single cladding run on multi-dimensional surfaces. Robust system features simplify operability, reduce production set up and monitor the cladding process.

Sulzer Metco can provide full services to MetcoClad system customers, including training, application development, calibration services, field service, global spare part logistics, pilot and production ramp-up cladding services. Part manipulation can be tailored to customer requirements. Whether the customer has prior experience in laser cladding or the customer is installing their first system, Sulzer Metco’s consultative and full service methodology will ensure a system that is both efficient and reliable.

The MetcoClad systems are the latest addition to Sulzer Metco’s laser cladding portfolio of products and services, which includes laser cladding application services and feedstock materials for wear resistance, corrosion resistance, general surface build up and surface restoration. Sulzer Metco will also showcase the MetcoClad systems at Fabtech, Chicago IL, U.S.A. in November of this year.
