Press releases () SUMEBore Races to Victory!
The first win for Ford was marked in the 2010 Sprint Cup Series at the POCONO 500 (miles) in Pennsylvania. Notably all the Fords were running the new production FR9 engine, all of which have been coated with Sulzer Metco's SUMEBore.
This is the first NASCAR victory for Ford with the new FR9 motor. Not only did the Ford Fusion win, it won by 3.5 seconds, even after driver Greg Biffle was told to slow down by the team to preserve the tires in the closing laps.
In a Victory Lane interview, Biffle was quoted as saying "Greg Erwin and those guys just never gave up. This 3M Ford Fusion, it was mostly engine. This engine ran so good. I abused the crap out of it all day and this one is for Jack (Jack Roush, co-owner of racing team Roush Fenway Racing)."
