With decades of experience in the industry and a highly qualified team, Oerlikon Fineparts offers a wide range of surface treatments, most notably PVD technologies, which give accessories a number of advantages in terms of technical performance and further customization.

Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD)

PVD is a thin-film coating process in which a solid material is vaporized in a vacuum then deposited on the surface of the component. The expertise gained by Oerlikon Balzers in this field allows us to make use of the most advanced technologies and equipment and manufacture the machines ourselves. Compared with other surface coating techniques, PVD has many advantages: excellent resistance to wear and oxidation, increasing the life cycle of accessories, possibility of obtaining uniform and durable finishes, as well as extension of the color range. From an environmental point of view, the positive aspects are even more apparent.

Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coatings

These distinctive thin-film, carbon-based coatings offer special wear resistance, even under conditions of high friction or contact with other parts. In addition to these performance benefits, DLC coatings also provides an excellent aesthetic solution. Working in synergy with Oerlikon Balzers, we are able to apply state-of-the-art systems to the world of luxury accessories.

Electroplating

Electroplating is an electrochemical process that, through the deposition of a thin layer of metal, gives the component a series of aesthetic and technical improvements, including greater resistance to corrosion. Static electroplating makes it possible to achieve very high levels of quality on surfaces and, thanks to the wide choice of metals, to respond to customization requests with a large range of proposals. Alternatively, we can perform the roto-barrel electroplating process, especially recommended when large volumes need to be treated, ensuring uniformity even on complex geometries.

Varnishing

This process further extends our range of customization options for surface finishes. Varnishing makes it possible to create combinations of vibrant colors as well as gloss, rubberized and matte effects.

Cataphoresis

The cataphoresis process consists of electrodeposition of varnish in immersion with direct electric current. The deposited film gives the accessories high anti-corrosive characteristics, complete rust protection and also extends the preservation of all parts that cannot be reached by conventional spray systems.

Enameling

This process, which requires high craftsmanship and attention to detail, involves the application of thin layers of enamel that give metal surfaces a special shine. In addition, when subjected to an enameling process, components are protected from scratches and corrosion, prolonging their usable life and keeping their aesthetic appeal unchanged over time.
