The two brands implemented a series of actions to reduce their CO₂ emissions.

Oerlikon Riri and Oerlikon Fineparts, in line with the requirements of “Fashion Pact”, are working to eliminate single-use or non essential plastic from their packaging and, when this is not a viable option, to find solutions involving the use of recycled plastic:

Among the actions already implemented in the various plants:

  • replacement of cellophane wrapping with a reusable roll-up net for intercompany transport;
  • use of thinner cellophane (20 µm instead of 50) leading to a decrease of volumes used and CO2 emissions equal to 42% compared to the previous scenario;
  • since 2018, usage of FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified cardboard boxes;
  • introduction of recycled plastic bags and trays to wrap and ship materials;
  • 100% recycled plastic sample folders;
  • adhesive tape made from recycled paper;
  • use of recycled paper to fill, if necessary, empty spaces inside cardboard boxes.

All employees are involved in awareness campaigns on recycling, reducing and optimizing waste.
