The project involved the company’s sites in Mendrisio, Tirano, Palazzolo sull’Oglio, Padova, Pergine Valsugana, and Scarperia, with active participation from teams in Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Industrialization, and HR.

With the creation of our cross-functional Green Belt team,” says Paolo Lazzarin, Head of Operations Oerlikon Luxury Italy & Switzerland, “we are bringing into the company the best international practices in process improvement—not only as a method, but as a daily way of thinking.”

The first phase consisted of an in-depth initial analysis through interviews and workshops. This was followed by the co-design of a training program dedicated to developing Green Belt competencies and a “training-in-action” phase that combined classroom sessions, project work based on real cases, and moments of individual and team coaching.

The initiative aims to enhance the overall efficiency of the organization through structured, data-driven methodologies. As Niccolò Nicolli, Head of Manufacturing at Oerlikon Riri, explains:
Having an internal team of Green Belts means being able to tackle complex projects with a structured approach, allowing us to free up production capacity and reinvest it in innovation.”
By the end of the program, it was established a group of certified Green Belts capable of applying the DMAIC method (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) to:

  • eliminate waste throughout the supply chain
  • reduce variability and defects in production processes
  • promote a shared, data-based language from production to quality

Thanks to this investment in internal capabilities, Oerlikon Fineparts continues to strengthen its commitment to operational excellence, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and laying the foundation for increasingly efficient, collaborative, and innovation-oriented processes.
