What a fantastic time at the very first Oerlikon Digital Hub Hackathon! Creators, innovators, makers, PIONEERS and partners gathered in the Digital Hub in Munich, between Nov 8-10, to design digital tools for the industrial world.

Welcome to our very first edition of “Under the Digital Hood” Series. Digitalization is one of the hottest topics in the industry world right now, and it comes with a bunch of funky buzz words and job roles that never existed before. In the upcoming editions of our series, we plan to go under the digital hood and find out more about the driving forces powering the digital world. And who could be a better fit for this than our very own Oerlikon Digital Hub team members.

Most of us know the famous movie line – “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." Well, it's safe to say, we're not in the movies and such a scenario is not welcome in a manufacturing environment.

Today’s selling process revolves almost entirely around the customers and what their requirements are. Nine out of ten interactions, you have to dedicate a great amount of time and physical presence to understand better what is needed and how to address it.
But, in an era where time is of the essence and everybody is online, your window of opportunity might close sooner than you imagine. We talk more on how E-Commerce can help businesses, with fast and accurate insights about the customers, with Heikki Minkkinen, E-Commerce Specialist, in our next edition of “Under the Digital Hood” series.
In the past months, we’ve explored the different technologies and skills sets that empower a digital transformation. If the digital transformation was a great gift to an organization, what is that one thing, the ribbon on top if you like, that ties it all together?
