Process Operator

Position Title: Process Operator

Location: Pell City, AL

Operate PPD and support equipment to Oerlikon Standards. Perform cleaning, prepping, blasting and polishing duties according to Oerlikon Standards.   Support all Vessel Operations in the center. Complete training and follow all Safety Training requirements including PPE, Hazardous Materials, etc.


Polish & Prep tools for the PPD process according to customers’ specifications and in line with Oerlikon Standards.

Enter and track customers’ PPD orders in Navision (create/post batches, post operations, etc.)

Maintain the PPD Production Schedule Expected Administration time percentage: <10%

Expected Production Floor time percentage: >90%

Operate the PPD vessel (process and PM’s) according to Oerlikon Standards

Troubleshoot and report any errors with the PPD vessel and its process (report ALL errors and deviations in process to service and management)

Operate Overhead Cranes according to Oerlikon Standards

Assist service department in PM’s related to PPD vessel and its support equipment

Complete PM’s assigned to PPD technicians correctly, completely and on time according to schedule

Correctly complete PCC’s related to PPD vessel and support processes, all cranes in the center and forklift

Complete required inspections on all crane rigging (i.e. straps, bolts, magnets, etc.)

Maintain a good working relationship with all areas PPD/PVD/Service

Prepare tools for Cleaning/Loading/Processing throughout PPD production process

Other duties as assigned by management

We expect:

Must have a minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience

Maintain 5S in entire PPD Production area

Adhere to the 5 Golden Rules of Safety

Maintain the Overhead Cranes, rigging equipment in the center

Maintain the forklift in the center

Develop a working relationship with Oerlikon Balzers Germany staff (PPD support)

Polish tools in PVD production when required

Operate PVD vessel equipment and LPN vessel when required

Provide support in all areas of production as needed or assigned by management

Provide onsite support/training for PPD1 vessel operations and PPD production
