Global Privacy & Data Compliance Officer

You will be leading data privacy compliance for the Oerlikon Group and provide expert advice and best practices by setting, implementing and maintaining privacy standards and procedures across our organization. You will ensure that all current and future data compliance related industry regulations are reflected and applied in the Oerlikon Group, and best practices are followed and implemented.



Your Responsibilities

Data Privacy

  • Inform and advise the group of its obligations pursuant to the applicable data protection laws
  • Maintain and continue implementing the global data privacy compliance program, including GDPR
  • Efficiently maintain and embed data protection compliant practices in the existing business processes, and advise on and implement data privacy compliance in acquired entities and joint ventures, as applicable
  • Monitor compliance with the applicable data protection laws and internal policies and practices that address the protection of personal data in all countries where Oerlikon has a footprint
  • Managing data privacy cases such as managing and coordinating filings and contacts with data protection authorities, advising on data specific privacy questions and issues to management and key functions
  • Coordinate and liaise with external legal advisors and local data protection officers
  • Maintain a network of local employees that will support data protection compliance, defining their roles and responsibilities, and overseeing their tasks
  • Provide support to our Information Technology and Information Security departments ensuring alignment between security and privacy compliance; acting as a liaison to the IT department. Supporting and advising the IT department on data migration and cloud initiatives, assessing the risks, and proposing risk mitigation measures, and communicating effectively with the business
  • Support the procurement function and the legal counsels in the review of outsourcing contracts that have an impact on data protection, providing them with processes, clauses and templates to ensure that Oerlikon’s data protection compliance is maintained during the provision of the services
  • Support HR in the negotiations with local works councils as far as data privacy matters are concerned
  • Lead or participate in internal investigations and audits relating to data privacy as well as implementation of remediation plans
  • Report on the data protection compliance status to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors
  • Monitor external developments in data privacy compliance, including laws and regulations, government investigations, and industry best practices
  • Serve as a country data protection officer for Switzerland

Data Compliance

  • Design and define the data compliance framework
  • Establish Cross Segment solutions for training, such as joint materials, communication channels and trainers in various key jurisdictions
  • Monitor, support and prioritize projects (such as data migration) according to compliance risk

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English, German language skills desired, additional languages are a plus
  • Listening to others. Finding consensus among diverse viewpoints and across all levels of the organization. Demonstrating ability to communicate to, negotiate with, and influence (also senior) business leaders
  • BSc/BA in law, IT, finance, business administration or related field
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the privacy profession and deep working knowledge of the current EU (GDPR) and international privacy laws
  • In-depth knowledge of the industry’s standards and regulations
  • Proven experience in data compliance projects
  • Experience in working in a multinational corporation
