Oerlikon Solar at the heart of thin-film solar technology breakthrough
Pfäffikon SZ, August 29, 2006 − Renewable sources of energy are very much in the public eye in view of tightening supplies of traditional resources coupled with the damage these cause to the environment. Using existing systems, Oerlikon Solar has over the past three years developed innovative process technology for the mass production of 1.4m2–sized solar modules. Thanks to this new technology, silicon thin-film solar modules can now for the first time be mass-produced very cost-effectively. Oerlikon is currently the only provider of a complete production system for thin-film solar modules with the associated process technology. Demand is enormous. The Solar business unit registered an order intake worth CHF 88.1 million in the first half of 2006 and anticipates sustainable growth in this area. Major clients incude ErSol Group and SCHOTT Solar AG. On September 4-8, 2006, Oerlikon Solar will be represented at the 21st European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference & Exhibition at Messezentrum Dresden in Hall 4, Stand 57. We kindly invite you to visit the Oerlikon Solar team at its exhibition stand. Our specialists will be happy to introduce you to the solar technology of the future.
