Principal Duties & Responsibilities: - Under limited guidance from Regional Head of CSC, executes work packages and tasks related to thermal spray system run-offs, know-how transfers and coating development / troubleshooting efforts (ex. transitions from lab to production).
- Works hands-on and collaborates closely with Applications, CSC, Engineered Systems, SUMEBore, TSS, and/or external customers as a team to transfer knowledge, transition into production, troubleshoot, and/or to industrialize thermal spray applications.
- Maintains regular meetings, discussions, and contact with customers to ensure technical alignment.
- Applies deep hands-on experience and practical knowledge of thermal spray processes, coatings, and applications to perform system run-offs, coating troubleshooting, parameter transfers, and training on-site.
- Performs necessary spray tests, bench tests, investigations, etc.
- Communicates/Interfaces effectively with CSC, Applications, Materials / Equipment R&D, Project Managers, Field Service, Sales and External customers.
- Insures that project/program task assignments meet established technical requirements and time schedules. This includes guidance in the use of equipment and materials used in the spray process, masking, fixturing, pre- and post-treatments, work handling, robotics, etc.
- Oversees the organization of spray test results, laboratory reports, and related documentation.
- Keeps the Global and Regional Heads of CSC and Sales and related stakeholders informed of the status of assigned tasks and initiatives.
- Position will require travel to support activities including on-site knowledge transfers, technology/product evaluations, troubleshooting, system acceptances, technical discussions, training, etc.
- Maintains regular, direct contact with both internal and external customers such as (but not limited to) Sales, SUMEBore, Systems Engineering, and Field Service.
- Maintains strict adherence to Oerlikon Metco internal procedures and safety regulations pertaining to thermal spraying and application.
- Performs other duties as required.
