BALINIT CNI is a very smooth sputtered Chromium Nitride (CrN) coating. It is very ductile and has a high oxidation resistance. It is the coating which can be produced in highest thicknesses (up to 50 µm). Mainly used for high temperature sliding applications like engine exhaust valves and piston rings. Smoothness, ductility and wear resistance makes BALINIT CNI also a powerful alternative to hard chrome plating for textile fibre guiding elements.

    Recommended applications

    BALINIT® CNI is the coating of choice for high temperature application like exhaust valves and piston rings due to the coatings high oxidation resistance and its capability to produce it in thicknesses up to 50 um. It is also the preferred coating for textile fibre guiding elements due to its smoothness and wear resistance. The third main application area are food processing and packaging thanks to the coatings silver – grey like color and its food- and biocompatibility approval.
