Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Metals (PBF-LB/M)

Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Metals (PBF-LB/M), also known as Selective Laser Melting (SLM), is a powder based additive manufacturing process. It can manufacture complex metal prototypes or series parts rapidly and without any tooling.

Components manufactured by laser melting can be heat treated, welded and reworked with typical processing methods.

  • The cobalt-chromium-molybdenum alloy (CoCrMo) is a so called super alloy for high temperature applications
  • Combines extreme high temperature resistance with high corrosion resistance
  • Stability of which is ensured even at high temperatures
  • CoCrMo alloys are used, among other things, for highly stressed components, such as components for aircraft engines and components for engine construction
  • Through the heat treatment "solution annealing", the breaking elongation can be increased
